What are furniture rollers for chairs, and how to choose them: modifications, characteristics

Indeed, the wheels mean a lot, and to be precise, their execution. After all, not only must they be durable, the wheels must be manageable, maneuverable and safe for any type of flooring.

Chair wheels: what are they?

Often, chair casters can be made from either polypropylene or polyamide. Both of these materials are artificial, synthetic, but have a difference in strength characteristics.

When choosing a chair, such a piece of furniture should not remain invisible. The maneuverability, ease of movement and the integrity of the lower part of the chair depend on what wheels are on the chair. Malfunctions often occur in which the rollers stick, do not work, or turn poorly. As a result – damaged flooring, scratches, abrasions and the need for repairs in the room. To avoid such negative consequences, it is important to choose not only comfortable chairs, but also the right rollers for them.

Reliable wheelbase material

Wheels made of polyamide will be more durable. This material has high strength, is resistant to loads, temperature and the action of the external environment. It is widely used in aircraft manufacturing, mechanical engineering and other fields.

Polyamide

Polyamides are, simply put, plastics (kapron, nylon, anid). The composition of macromolecules consists of an amide bond with methylene groups. Polyamides in turn crystallize into polymers. The properties of all polyamides are close: they are rigid, durable, resistant to tearing and wear, heat-resistant, withstand vapor temperatures up to 140 ° C.

Due to the wide temperature range, polyamides retain their elasticity at both low and high temperatures. However, polyamides have a sufficiently high water absorption, and the balance of the composition is restored to its original level under certain conditions. The material has high strength under pressure and mechanical damage, can be welded by high-frequency method.

Interesting. It is possible to apply a logo on polyamides, the paint on the surface lasts a long time, does not fade and does not wipe off.

The electrical and mechanical properties of polyamide in most cases depend on humidity. However, in any case, all derivatives of this material are easy to care for, durable and resistant to pressure, which is necessary in the manufacture of chairs.

Roller mechanism coating – differences

The second important factor in evaluating wheels is their coverage. In this case, the coating material. There are rollers rubberized and with polyurethane coating. The difference between these two coatings are different slip rates. If your office has carpet, carpets or other soft surfaces, it is best to choose a chair with polyurethane coated wheels. Due to the higher slip coefficient, there will be no marks, scuffs, scratches and worn parts on the surface.

It is also worth paying attention to such features of the coating of the wheels as ease of movement. In many ways, even the heaviest chair of 30 kg is easy to move on the surface or even carpet due to the fact that the wheelbase uses a soft rubberized base on a polyamide base.

Pay attention also to the diameter of the wheel, the higher the diameter, the more convenient it is to move the chair on soft surfaces.

How to independently determine which videos are on a computer chair?

Is it possible to determine on your own what the videos on the computer chair are made of, has the seller deceived you? In fact, it is quite simple to do this even in the store. To do this, you just need to press the surface of the wheels: if they are slightly pressed through with a fingernail, then this is a rubberized base. But with any press, the shape of the wheels should be resumed. If the depressed part remains, not accepting its original position, we can talk about low-quality foam rubber or simple rubber, which is no longer so popular today. Rubber on the wheels of a computer chair is quite soft, but it has a number of negative aspects, including low resistance to deformation and temperature, abrasion and damage.
